Thermal effects, material damage, or insufficient feature resolution limit many precision manufacturing processes. As manufacturers seek higher throughput without compromising quality, femtosecond lasers have become an increasingly important production tool. Their ultrashort pulses interact with materials so quickly that heat transfer is minimized.
Addressing the need to scale precision processing without sacrificing quality, Luxinar has introduced its latest 515 nm Aionis femtosecond laser, delivering up to five times more power than previous models. The Aionis 515-50-Yb expands Luxinar’s femtosecond laser portfolio with up to 50 W of output power at 515 nm. Combining femtosecond pulses below 350 fs with high pulse energy and advanced pulse control, it enables faster processing, cleaner results, and greater process stability for demanding precision manufacturing applications.
This enables cold ablation, exceptional feature quality, precise micromachining, and the reliable processing of brittle and sensitive materials that only tolerate minimal thermal impact. Manufacturers can reduce scrap, minimize post-processing, and accelerate the transition from process development to production.
The 515 nm wavelength femtosecond laser is particularly suited to these applications as it allows tighter beam focusing than 1030 nm systems and supports the accurate machining of extremely small features with high precision.
With reduced thermal impact and a lower risk of microcracking, the
Aionis 515-50-Yb is ideally suited for semiconductor manufacturing, glass and brittle material processing, medical device production, photovoltaics, and other high-precision industrial applications.
Christoph Wunderling, Luxinar’s product manager for solid-state lasers, explained,“The launch of the new Aionis is the result of responding to customer needs for scale precision manufacturing with higher throughput, cleaner processing of brittle materials and precision-critical parts, and greater process stability. We are pleased to have engineered a laser that delivers high uptime through a laser architecture that minimizes internal optical degradation over time, even at high laser power levels.”
As part of Luxinar’s Pulsecore® solid-state laser series, the Aionis range is engineered for applications where yield, repeatability, and long-term process stability are critical.
